Shri Bibudhendu Patnaik is a visionary and multifaceted leader whose unwavering commitment as a Rotarian for 29 years has transformed countless lives. As a proud son of Dhenkanal, Shri Patnaik’s passion and dedication shine through in every initiative he leads. He inspires and mobilizes communities, resulting in meaningful and lasting change across Odisha and India. During his tenure as a Rotarian, Shri Patnaik has spearheaded transformative campaigns, including Save Tree and Plantation Drives, Climate Change Awareness, Blood Donation Camps, Health Care Initiatives, Eye Care Camps, and Education and Skill-Based Training Programs. His tireless efforts have touched thousands, building a healthier, greener, and more empowered society.

Shri Patnaik is also the Goodwill Brand Ambassador of the “Unite for Good - India” movement, which aims to spread peace and harmony across the globe and make this planet a better place to live. His core strength lies in his family, inspired by his late father, Rotarian Shri Susil Kumar Patnaik, Founder of the Rotary Club of Dhenkanal (since [year to be inserted]). His wife, Rotarian Shrimati Kalyani Patnaik, a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), is a leader in Bhubaneswar Rotary circles.

For over 29 years, Shri Patnaik has been a proud member of Rotary International and served as President of the Rotary Club of Dhenkanal (2004–2005). His Rotary journey reflects his deep belief in the ideals of “Service Above Self,” through which he continues to inspire others with his leadership, humility, and compassion.

A LEADER IN INDUSTRY AND COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT

His contribution to the cooperative sector has been both visionary and transformative. As President of the Angul United Central Co-Operative Bank, he introduced seed and fertilizer distribution through PACS — a first for Odisha — which later became a state-level policy initiative.

Under his leadership, the Bank successfully implemented the Integrated Cooperative Development Programme (ICDP) with the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), strengthening grassroots cooperatives and empowering farmers. He also launched the Paddy Procurement Scheme (2007), ensuring better support and fair returns for local farmers.

His innovative welfare measures safeguarded farmers’ livelihoods and set a new benchmark in cooperative banking excellence. Recognizing his financial stewardship and dedication, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) honored him with the Best Banker Award for three consecutive years.

Furthermore, under his leadership, the Angul United Central Co-Operative Bank became the first cooperative bank in Odisha to receive an RBI license — a landmark achievement reflecting his commitment to institutional integrity and financial transparency.

ENTREPRENEURIAL PURSUITS

A true son of the soil, Shri Patnaik has established a fully automated, agro-based seed production unit in Dhenkanal. The unit specializes in improved and hybrid varieties of vegetables, paddy, and oilseeds, supported by a strong distribution network across Eastern India.

His R&D division collaborates with leading agricultural scientists, focusing on innovation and sustainability. The facility also manufactures bio-fertilizers and micronutrients, with products reaching both domestic and international markets — a testament to his vision of a self-reliant and globally competitive agricultural sector.

A LEGACY OF VALUES

Shri Patnaik’s ideals are deeply rooted in the values of his late father, Professor Shri Susil Kumar Patnaik, a distinguished academician, former Principal of Dhenkanal College, and one of the founding members of the Utkal Congress Party. Prof. Shri Patnaik was a close associate and devoted follower of the legendary leader Biju Patnaik, actively contributing to Odisha’s political and social transformation since 1971. Inspired by his father’s legacy, Shri Bibudhendu Patnaik continues to uphold the same ideals — striving to fulfil the unaccomplished dreams of his father and perpetuate Biju Babu’s vision for a prosperous and progressive Odisha.
